Since the creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe the world has been obsessed with superheroes in cinema. This had led to manyadaptations and variations of comic-book characters, as well as some newer interpretations. The strength and power of these heroes is of a varying level. Throughout time Superman has been generally the benchmark for other heroes to live up to, however, recently there have been many who could give even the"Man of Steel" a run for his money.
Ruled out of this list are such heroes as Odin, who was not a lead in his own movie despite being the all-father and having the power to defeat Laufey and the Ice Giants. The strongest heroes can be found in the strangest of places, from SuperBob to Thor, these iterations of characters are the strongest to have been portrayed on screen.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
10/10 Batman (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice)
InZack Snyder's 2016Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, audiences were introduced to Ben Affleck's Batman. This was a darker, and more powerful Caped Crusader - the already gritty character. To take on the Man of Steel and come out 0n top is no mean feat, but Batman was able to do this with relative ease.
His superior intelligence and preparation allowed him to crush Superman and have him practically begging for his life. Batman is known to have contingency plans for the whole Justice League in a variety of adaptations, but to see it put into action on the big screen was special. Batman is, however, lower on this list due to his reliance on gadgets and technology.
9/10 Matt Garetty (Chronicle)
Chroniclewas a breakthrough project from Josh Trank. The rough footage gave the super-hero origin story a refreshingly authentic feel. Dane DeHaan offers a stand out performance as the film's villain. Alex Russell, on the other hand, plays the hero,Matt Garetty, who must kill DeHaan's Andrew.
RELATED: The 10 Highest-Grossing Superhero Movies Not In The MCU Or DCEU
The reason Garetty finds himself on this list is due to the range of powers that he possesses. From telekinesis to flight, Garety has them all. He isn't higher on the list due to the struggle he faces against Andrew and ultimately both's lack of control over their respective powers. If he trained more and became more mature then his power could be limitless, something we might seein apotentialChronicle sequel.
8/10 Will Stronghold (Sky High)
Will is the son of the world's two most powerful heroes. As a result he is sent toSky High.Unfortunately for Will, his powers haven't developed yet. This is a common trope and, predictably, he develops his father's super strength and his mother's ability to fly. Similarly to Garetty, if Will developed his powers then he certainly would be higher up this list.
However, he is still extremely inexperienced by the time the film ends and has much to learn. The real demonstration of his strength comes as he stops the school from crashing into the city below. Will then proceeds to lift the school back into the air and flies it into position. Will does defeat Royal Pain though, his father's greatest foe, thus demonstrating his current powers, as well as his potential.
7/10 Hulk (Thor: Ragnarok)
We all know that the Hulk is one of the most powerful beings in the world. Yet, until he is fully unleashed in Thor: Ragnarok, fans don't see his full strength. By the time we see him on Sakaar, the Hulk is a different beast all together.
He can, and has, defeated a number of powerful opponents (including Doug). He manages to go toe to toe with a hammerless Thor. Hulk even takes on Fenris Wolf and comes out victorious. He is only truly defeated by the mad Titan himself. To see the power of the Hulk is quite impressive. For raw strength and power alone Hulk deserves his place on this list.
6/10 Captain America (Avengers: Endgame)
We all know where we were when Captain America finally lifted Mjolnir in Avengers: Endgame. Not many of us quite realized just how powerful he was in that moment, when he possessed the power of Thor and used lightning to attack Thanos.
The image of Captain America assembling all super beings in the MCU is powerful in itself. His battle-hardened mind immediately gets to grip with how best to use the hammer. As a result the mad Titan is only just able to defeat him. Captain America doesn't find himself higher on this list due to the fact that Thanos didn't need the Infinity Stones to defeat the first Avenger.
5/10 SuperBob (SuperBob)
SuperBobis an independent British comedystarring Brett Goldstein as the titular hero. SuperBob is essentially the Superman of his reality. He has all the abilities of the man of steel, apart from the laser vision, and is hardly threatened physically throughout the film. Perhaps a strange inclusion, however, SuperbBb's powers are unrivaled and he is an extremely powerful individual.
Related: The 10 Best Superhero Movies Not In The MCU Or DCEU
The reason he is so high on this list is due to the fact that there is little suggestion that there are any other empowered persons in his reality, making him the most powerful. He has also been using his powers for a number of years and has refined his knowledge of his abilities and strengths. Equally, this is a reason why he is not higher, there is very little to actually compare his power and strength against.
4/10 Metro Man (Megamind)
Yet another Superman impersonator- with a practically identical origin story - Metro Man is the original hero inMegamind. He becomes tired of his heroic lifestyle and recurrent saving of Metrocity, that he fakes his own death and enters a self imposed exile. With all the powers of Superman, Metro Man finds himself so high on this list due to his experience and success rate.
His ability to think and move at such high speeds, as he did when faking his death, make him an elite hero. His raw power is highlighted when his powers are gifted to Titan. However, what makes Metro Man so powerful is his intelligence and grasp of his powers. Metro Man is at the peak of his powers and, unlike Titan, has never been defeated by Megamind.
3/10 Thor (Avengers: Infinity War)
It is important to remember that this iteration of Thor has lost everything. He is on a mission to destroy Thanos. He survives the power of a star and wields Stormbreaker. This is not the same Thor that was an arrogant war-monger. Thor, with the power of Stormbreaker, is able to summon the Bifrost and is able to withstand an attack from the Infinity Stones, almost defeating Thanos in the process.

Arguably, this power is due to Stormbreaker; however, to have the ability and strength to wield such a weapon in itself is impressive. Thor's character arc sees him gain control over his abilities and mature as a warrior. By this time,Thor has honed his fighting ability, thanks to going up against a variety of enemies in a number of situations. Thor arriving in Wakanda and immediately taking out a number of Outriders only served to demonstrate his destructive and powerful nature.
2/10 Captain Marvel (Captain Marvel)
It is a close call between Thor and Captain Marvel for who holds the mantle as the strongest MCU hero. However, Captain Marvel has proven time and again her raw strength and power that she just about takes the flag. Whilst she may not be everyone's favorite superhero, she certainly can handle herself against the strongest villains.
Thanosis only able to defeat Carol Danvers by using the Power Stone, and even then, it is not convincingly. Captain Marvel is the only character we see Thanos be truly terrified of. With the use of photon blasts and enhanced strength and speed, Captain Marvel is a true force to be reckoned with. Her true power is demonstrated when she singlehandedly destroys The Sanctuary II (Thanos' warship).
1/10 Superman (Zack Snyder's Justice League)
Who else? Clark Kent is so overpowered in every imagining of the character that it is unfair on anyone who opposes him. When Superman returns in his black suit to fight Steppenwolf, there is a sense that this character means business. Similarly to Thor, Superman has lost so much (he died after all) and is returning with a vengeance.
Audiences had already seen him defeat the Justice League with relative ease, and malice. This version of the Man of Steel gives the character a darker side that makes him all the more powerful and dangerous. Darkseid is notoriously the most powerful villain in any super-powered reality, yet here we see Superman strike fear into the eyes of the New God.
